Safety Trailer
Put Education first when it has to do with your kids.
Bismarck Fire Department has a new learning tool for KIDS. The safety house is a hands on learning tool that gives children and their family’s the skills and knowledge they need to create safer homes and communities.
It is a mobile classroom featuring real life hazards, like smoke and heat. This creates an environment that provides children with the knowledge needed to prevent fires and steps to follow if they find themselves in a fire situation.
To schedule a tour or use it at one of your events, the department would like a 3-week notice. During the summer months the safety trailer is used quite often and adequate staff needs to be provided to make sure the full effect of the safety education session is shared with our young children today.
If your group or organization is interested in using the safety house, please contact the Bismarck Fire Department, Administration office at (701) 355.1400. Safety Trailer

News Release For Immediate Release: December 23, 2009
Help the Bismarck Fire Department with the Adopt A Hydrant Program
The Bismarck Fire Department is asking for help from the citizens of Bismarck. There are over 4000 hydrants in the city of Bismarck and many of them can become inaccessible due to snow. We are asking for everyone in helping us clear snow from around the hydrants by “adopting” a hydrant this winter.
This helps in reducing the time it takes for the fire department to get water on a fire by ensuring that that we can find and access the fire hydrant when we need it most. By helping us you could save your neighbor’s house or your own in an emergency. When “Adopting a Hydrant”, you are committing to taking a little extra time to clear some space around the hydrant after it snows and the streets have been cleared. The snow should be cleared 6 inches below all the caps and 3 to 4 feet around the hydrant.
This gives firefighters the space they need to attach hoses and turn on water in case of a fire in your neighborhood.
If you are a business owner, please take the time to ensure the hydrants in your area are kept clear also.
The Bismarck Fire Department wishes to thank everyone in helping keep the community safe.
